St. George’s, Bermuda (Monday, 8 October 2018) - James Campbell, PPP Project Director, has over 25 years of project management experience including working with the National Health Service in the United Kingdom (UK) and 11 years with the Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB). In May 2017, Mr. Campbell was seconded to the Airport Authority as Director, Public Private Partnership (PPP) Contract Management for a 12-month period. In his new role, Mr. Campbell will be overseeing the PPP contract management and compliance of the construction phase of the new airport terminal building at L.F. Wade International Airport, developing the Airport Authority’s PPP Centre of Excellence and leading long-term strategic initiatives.
In 2006, Mr. Campbell established BHB’s capital planning and project management function where he successfully delivered several capital renovation projects.
Beginning in 2009, he led the planning and procurement of the new acute care wing at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital under a PPP delivery framework. It was Bermuda’s largest ever infrastructure project and its first PPP project. The project achieved commercial and financial close in 2010. Mr. Campbell then led the construction phase of the project on behalf of BHB. The project was successfully completed in 2014, after which Mr. Campbell led PPP contract operations for three years.
Mr. Campbell holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Mathematics from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Leadership from Lancaster University, UK.
The Bermuda Airport Authority owns the L.F. Wade International Airport on behalf of the Government of Bermuda. The Authority has contracted with Bermuda Skyport Corporation Limited, through a 30-year public private partnership agreement to redevelop and operate the L.F. Wade International Airport. The Authority oversees the performance of Skyport over the contract term, delivers certain retained Government services and regulates airport fees.
